What you need

Ingredients

1 scoop (30g) chocolate whey or casein protein powder · 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or oat flour · 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder · 1/2 tsp baking powder · Pinch of salt · 3 tbsp milk

Step 1

Mix the dry

Whisk the protein powder, flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt directly in a wide mug so there are no dry pockets.

Step 2

Add the wet

Stir in the milk, yogurt, and maple syrup until you have a thick, smooth batter with no lumps at the bottom.

Step 3

Drop in the chips

Push the chocolate chips into the center rather than stirring them through — they melt into a molten core.

Step 4

Microwave 80 to 90 seconds

Cook at full power for 80 seconds, then check. The top should be set and the center still slightly glossy.

Chef's tip

Use a wide mug

A tall narrow mug cooks the outside long before the middle. Wide and shallow gives you even heat.
